Looking at Sony’s newest installment of the God of War series; the review would to start off by mentioning that somehow, the entire God of War 3 storyline seems a bit stretched. What that means is that we have been through four other similar battle fields, maybe slightly differential on certain minor aspects, but the storyline core remains the same. We are looking at the same character as before and the story picks up directly from the climax where the last battlefield ended; our hero Kratos has scaled Mt. Olympus on the back of the Titan Gaia with the other Titans as they begin their assault on the Gods of Olympus.

Regardless of what other people felt, the avid fans of the GOW franchise find God of War III an apt follow-up it needed to be to the prior installments. Through the game, we learn new tricks and find a few new faces to stand against, as all hell is spilled upon the earth through the battle for Mt. Olympus. The dual mind frame of Kratos is revealed well as repeated betrayal has developed him as a fantasy hero through the entire series; it’s fun with the cynical and sarcastic realism of his character overall.

Looking at the graphics, the technology is astounding in providing these amazing reality-akin ambiances providing enough to boost the story. As many find it, the battlegrounds and visualizations itself are worth warring in. Detailed backgrounds, lifelike characterization and some fantastic sound and background scores make the entire game rather addictive, but the levels are easy if you’re a seasoned gamer. For God of War, the 5th episode isn’t really very difficult a battle to dominate. However, if a story’s visualization comes to strike your fancy, the game is indeed a great choice to take. God of War III excludes a multi-player layout as the story denies relevance, but the studio is set to release some downloadable goodies to add. On the resolution front, its 1080p HD resolution, and thus the amazing graphics I mentioned; but since the DualShock3 was only announced after the release, the game still depends on the vibration and tilt effects of SixAxis and cannot have the newest ‘Rumble’ effect.

God of War III provides a few amazing conclusions to the entire game’s plot, so even though the story leans on the fading effects of five acts; what he can expect is a few answers. Majorly, it does answer why the Greek myths became extinct and what the battle of the Titans and Gods caused ‘Hell on Earth’. With its release in March 2010, all that was promised by Kratos as the hero in the initial trailers do hold ground. ‘There will only be Chaos!’ and Chaos is released with the explanative ‘Mature’ censorship.

This game went gold by the March with a 9/10 review and great market response, following the success of Final Fantasy XIII; one of its most stiff competitions; and it’s rather fair to think of this game to be judged so. The game platform being PS3, Sony has released another winning hit. Though once said the God of War III concludes and subsequently ends the franchise, John Hight, the studio manager at Santa Monica has promised that this will be a part of a trilogy and the show must go on.
