Monkey Island 2 SE is an adventure game that was developed and published by LucasArts in the year 1991. After the arrival of The Secret of Monkey Island, this was the second game of the Monkey Island Series. With all this history, Monkey Island 2 SE is the sixth LucasArt game that uses SCUMM engine and the first one that used the iMUSE sound system. The development team for the game is more or less the same as the development team for the first game of this series with the leader Rob Gilbert and his partners Tim Schafer and Dave Grossman. LeChuck’s Revenge is considered to be one of the best games designed by LucasArt adventure games.
The game has surely met people’s expectations and is one of the few games that have come after a long break and have still succeeded in gaining admiration from players. What you will experience in this revamped game package is far away from the original game. The games graphic work, music, controls and nearly everything related to the game has been updated which feels great fun while you play. The game comes with an option to switch back to the classic mode that switches the complete interface of game back to its original condition. A few of things have been omitted in the game but this really does not affect the overall high quality of game.
The game’s story has been same throughout and even a bit of it has not been changed. The story of the pirate Guybrush Threepwood is continues who sets off for a journey to find a famous treasure. Some insight to the story and other developmental topics are provided by a simple commentary option which allows hearing the three main developers by pressing a button during the game play. The controls are standard point-and-click like the original game. Some of the great additions in the game help you along in this challenging affair. Better experience is provided so you don’t have to wait for the screen to interface with the object. You simply stand near an object, and press right trigger button to bring a menu containing all the possible verb actions available for that object. The gamers are provided with hints to assist them pass through areas where they get stuck in. the game is more difficult and much longer than “The Secrets of Monkey Island”. The puzzles are interesting but are sometimes so difficult that no human being would be able to solve them without trial and error. It can be really frustrating for some gamers but is really a nice part of the game. The game can be quite long but for those who already know the game; it won’t take more than 3 hours to finish.
There are a lot of games out there but only a few are good. This is one of the special and good games. Monkey Island 2 Special Edition: LeChuck’s Revenge is a game that has combined fun, humor, a meaningful plot and great creativity which makes it a must-to-play game.
