Need For Speed: Shift is a racing video game from the franchise Need For Speed. It is the 13th version of the game. It was released on December 2008 all over the world.

Along with the launch of this game two more games Need for Speed were launched simultaneously. Need For Speed since ages have been providing us with latest car racing games. This game is developed by EA Black Box in partnership with Slightly Mad Studios. Shift is published by Electronic Arts. This new series of Need For Speed focuses more on simulation/arcade racing rather than the traditional arcade racing.

The soundtrack of all the Need For Speed installments have been great and so is on this one. There is a scored soundtrack in Shift unlike the other ones which had a general track list. Shift has currently ended the bad run of Need For Speed franchise and returns them to greatness. The game received great reviews from critics and various gamers. Most of the gaming magazines rated Shift 9/10.  There is also a new camera angle introduce in the game for which gamers have went mad. The new in-car perspective looks so real that it actually makes you to think whether you should slow down or no.

Need For Speed: Shift is designed and created especially by keeping hardcore racing audiences in mind. Shift does not contain any story like its predecessors and it makes car handling look very real which is a high point of this game. In the starting of the career mode the player has to do a lap of the track in order to decide the car settings. Once this has been performed the player is then welcomed in to the “NFS Live World Series”. In this tournament the player must win races in order to earn points and money to unlock other tracks, cars and races.

To be accurate Shift has 72 high performance photo-real cars. There are 19 tracks available in this game and you can race in it in 50 different ways. The 72 cars in the game are divided into 4 levels of cars. 1st levels of cars are generally average cars which you receive at the start of your career mode, the 2nd level is performance cars, 3rd level being Supercars and the 4th level is of Hypercars. You need to earn points and money in order to unlock all the cars except of the first level. This edition of Need For Speed is so meticulous that you will hear a detailed crash sound and also sharp intake of breath from the driver if there is a collision to occur.

Great detailing can also be seen in the Customization part of the car. Need For Speed: Shift includes more cosmetics as well as performance modes discussed in depth unlike the other editions of the game. Aerodynamics, alignment, brakes, gears, differential and tires are some areas where you will see immense detailing and considerations. Nitrous which is considered to be the hot favorites among the youth will be present in this edition too. It will be present as an option for modification but contrasting to the other editions of the game nitrous will be replicated more realistically providing a thrust of adrenalin to the player.
